TGIF Project Criteria
1. Project Applicants: Project applicant must be a Hunter College undergraduate student in good standing. However, all CUNY students, faculty, staff, as well as members of outside organizations may be included as project personnel.
2. Environmental Benefits: Projects must reduce Hunter College’s negative environmental impact, create environmental education opportunities, and/or empower Hunter students to implement solutions to environmental challenges.
3. Connection to the Hunter Campus: Projects must directly address environmental sustainability on Hunter College’s campus, or engage Hunter College students and staff with environmental issues.
4. Project Duration: All projects will commence at the beginning of January and must be completed by the end of the Spring semester of a given academic year. All project funds awarded must be spent by the end of the fiscal year in which they were awarded. Any unspent funds will be returned to the TGIF. If a project will take more than one semester to complete, the applicant may apply in the Spring for a project extension through the Fall semester.
5. Innovation: Projects should be innovative in nature, and should not include routine maintenance activities. TGIF shall only fund projects that would not be otherwise funded, and are not required by College, University, or another policy mandate.
6. Feasibility: Projects must be feasible. TGIF may fund feasibility studies, at the discretion of the Committee.
7. Measurability & Timeline: All proposed projects must have a clearly defined, measurable outcome. All projects must submit a timeline. You can find an example here.
8. Budget: Priority will be given to proposals demonstrating efficient and effective use of funds. Estimate the total budget and line items, even where uncertainty exists (as well as to note this uncertainty where possible). You can find an example here.
9. Outreach and Education: TGIF is not responsible for outreach, promotion, or advertising of approved projects. If outreach and promotion is required (i.e. – event promotion) then the necessary expenses and resources should be included in the project budget.
10. Accountability: All projects funded by TGIF shall submit one progress report to the Grant Making Committee during the project period as well as a final report at the conclusion of the project. The report must include a budget detailing the spending of all funds. You can find an example here.
