Project Director: Dr. Allan Frei
New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), which controls New York City’s water supply, started a project several years ago, the goal of which is to evaluate the potential impacts of climate change on New York City’s water supply in the twenty first century. Under contracts between NYCDEP and CISC, Prof. Frei works with NYCDEP staff scientists, as well as a team of seven CISC post-doctoral researchers specifically hired under this contract. The goal is apply NYCDEP’s computer simulation modeling software, which is normally used for daily operational purposes, to the problem of climate change. This major effort started in late 2008 and is expected to continue through at least 2012.
