JOB DESCRIPTION
The Maine Office of GIS has an opportunity for a motivated GIS professional to serve as the lead system administrator for the State’s ESRI-based geographic information system. The ideal candidate has extensive GIS experience at an enterprise level in addition to database development/management skills and programming. The position is under the supervision of the GIS Administrator.
The applicant will have the primary responsibility of administering the State’s ArcSDE database and GIS software infrastructure. The applicant will work with GIS application developers to maintain and enhance existing GIS applications and scripts.
Sample tasks the applicant will undertake include:
· Administer enterprise ArcSDE geodatabases for Microsoft SQL Server
· Manage scripts, models, and tools to support the enterprise GIS environment.
· Help design architecture to accommodate new/emerging GIS technologies to meet State’s needs.
· Install, configure, tune, monitor and maintain the State’s geodatabase and enterprise GIS software.
· Support the design and development of geographic information components, data services and applications within the State’s secure IT infrastructure.
PREFERRED SKILLS
· Strong, demonstrated knowledge in the following areas:
o MS SQL Server / Oracle RDBMS database administration
o ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE administration, such as multi-user versioned editing and archiving
o ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10.x and geoprocessing tools and scripting.
· Experience with ArcGIS Online capabilities and support of web application development
· Extensive familiarity with geospatial data types
· Demonstrated experience working with technical and non-technical staff
· Strong initiative and ability to perform with little supervision
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
· Ability to work in a team environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS
In order to qualify, you must have five (5) years of computer programming utilizing higher level languages including two (2) years at the Programmer Analyst level or equivalent. A Masters’ Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for one (1) year of programming experience.

Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%): $318.84 biweekly
*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
