CISC Research Assistant

The CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities (CISC) is seeking a research

assistant to contribute to a large-scale international research project

focusing on urban coastal resilience and transformation in response to

extreme events and climate change. The research assistant will work closely

with Bill Solecki, Professor of Geography, at Hunter College to conduct

expert interviews for risk management professionals and stakeholders and

a household survey in flood risk prone Jamaica Bay neighborhoods.

The applicant must be a current CUNY graduate student with a background

in geography, environmental science/studies, planning or similar discipline

with significant research experience and strong writing skills. A general

background in social science interview methods, risk and hazards

management and climate change are advantages.  This position is part-

time, 10-15 hrs/wk, for a duration of up to one year with favorable work

reviews. Compensation is $17.50 per hour for Master’s students and $20.00

per hour for Doctoral students. The selected candidate will start

immediately and work both from the CISC offices on the Hunter College

Main campus and remotely.
